Dave The Dude too strong at Canterbury

Jun 10, 2010

Dave The Dude went on his winning way from the Beaudesert Hibernian Cup 2450m last start to the theraces.com.au BM 71 2800m at Canterbury Park on Wednesday June 9.

Ridden by experienced horseman Grant Buckley, Dave The Dude sat off the speed in a slowly run first-half of the race. He relaxed beautifully in behind on the rails in fifth spot. Coming to the 1000m mark the speed started quicken up front & Dave tracked up nicely behind them.

When he went to shift out around the leader's heels at the 600m he was shunted back in by the horse traveling to his outside. Grant balanced him & waited for a split which came at the top of the straight.

Dave The Dude surged to the lead under hands & heels riding from Grant & went away to score easily.

A big congratulations to the Ebert Family who were present to see the win with their first Sydney runner!!

Dave The Dude looks like remaining in Sydney for the Stayers Cup 3200m next Saturday week at Rosehill.
