Grading wins first up.
Aug 20, 2010
Grading broke her Maiden status with a lovely first up win over 1350m at Ipswich today.
Ridden by Michael Cahill, Grading began well & settled midfield, but was caught 3 wide from her outside alley. Michael kept her balanced in runnng & allowed her to travel forward coming to the hometurn. With the odds-on favourite kicking clear on straightening, Michael gave her a couple of flicks with the whip & she made up considerable ground to nail the the favourite on the line.
Grading was only having her third start as a five year old mare & has had a history of being a problem in the barriers. She had been barred to trial after being a late scratching at her last start. She was put out for a few weeks spell & after some remedial work she overcame her previous indiscretions with a nice win at juicy odds for connections who have been most patient with her.
