Wakefield Racing secures colt in tough day at Karaka.

Feb 01, 2012

It was a very strong day at the Karaka Premier sales again for day 2 & most lots were keenly sought after with some spirited bidding.

Wakefield Racing secured lot 366, a brown colt by the proven sire Stravinsky out of the Flying Spur mare Peek.  Peek has had three foals to race so far, of which two are winners including the Listed winner Yield Curve who won 16 races from 1350 to 2200m.

Peek is out of Watch (by Marauding) who won the AJC Gimcrack Stakes Gr 3 who has thrown 6 foals to race with 5 winners including t he Gr 3 winner Overclock.

Watch is from the Todman mare in Peeping who herself won two races in her 2 yo year namely the VRC Maribyrnong Plate Gr 2 & the AJC Widden Stakes at Listed level. She also ran 2nd in the STC Silver Slipper Stakes Gr2 & the AJC Gimcrack Stakes. Peeping threw 10 foals, all raced & 9 were winners.

Brian was thrilled with the purchase," I inspected 95% of the colts from the Premier sales & this fellow was my top pick on my short list.  He is a terrific walker with a strong athletic build, good boned & a lovely attitude. He is a great acquisition to the Stable"

The next three days sees the Select draft go to auction & Brian has inspected most of these lots. " I've found some lovely horses that I believe will represent good value amongst them" he said.
